Andreas Wiedmaier: Rooted in Place: Site-Based Design for Resilient, Beautiful Gardens
22 September @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Andreas Wiedmaier is a gardener based in Freiburg, southwest Germany, whose work is rooted in site-based design. Responding to soil, wind, existing planting and the wider landscape, he creates resilient, characterful gardens that delight people while supporting insects and other wildlife. In this talk, he explores how gardens can thrive when they are shaped by the conditions of their site, showing how local character can guide beautiful, resilient design. His projects often focus on dry, no-irrigation, Mediterranean-style planting, while his own lush jungle garden reveals his love of foliage, layered planting and year-round seasonal change.
