Our last trip of the Season was to Counties Kildare and Wicklow in September. Robert Wilson White greeted us on arrival at our first stop, Coolcarrigan House and Gardens, Coill Dubh, Naas. He plied us with coffee and cake before taking us on a tour of his gardens, with its lovely selection of mature trees, shrubs and seasonal perennials.
A splendid lunch at Brambles Cafe, Russborough House was followed by visits first to June Blake’s Garden and Nursery in Tinode, Blessington and then Jimi Blake’s Garden, Hunting Brook, Lamb Hill, Blessington. Always a pleasure to see, both lived up to our expectations and their owners, as usual were happy to share hints and tips with us. Nigel, of course, found room on the coach for our many plant purchases before he drove us back to Foxrock.
